Frequently Asked Questions

Am I going to be riding in a sleigh or a wagon?

Sleighs require a base of 6 inches of packed snow.  We are constantly evaluating our trail conditions.   If there is any way we can get you in a sleigh, that is always our first option.  If conditions are not right for a sleigh, we will substitute a wagon/wagonette.  Refunds and rescheduling are not options due to lack of snow.

Can I reschedule or get refund if there is not enough snow for a sleigh?

No, we do not offer to reschedule your ride or give refunds if there is not enough snow for a sleigh.  By making a reservation with Coppal House Farm, you are making a reservation for a horse-drawn ride.

Do I have to pay when I make the reservation?

All rides must be paid in full at the time the reservation is taken.  Payment is taken over the phone or a check can be sent within 5 business days and a confirmation email will be sent.

Should I tip my driver?

Horse-drawn rides are considered a service, however, tips are always appreciated but never expected.

What time does my ride start?

When making a reservation please remember that the time you book is the time the ride leaves.  This means you should have any additional layers on and have used the restroom facilities and ready to get into the sleigh or wagon five minutes prior to your ride departing.  If you have booked a 1:00 pm ride, that is when the ride departs the farm.  Always arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time to check in.  For private bookings, if you arrive after your scheduled start time, you will be given a ride equal to the time left on your reservation and no discount will be given.  For public bookings, if you arrive after your scheduled start time, you will not be able to participate unless there is room on one of the following time slots.

Can I request a specific sleigh, horse, or driver?

Unfortunately, contrary to what Farmer John might have told you, we are not able to accommodate specific requests.

What should I wear?

This is an outdoor activity, so please check the weather and dress appropriately.  Blankets, hats, scarves, and mittens are always encouraged.  Make sure to bring snow pants for the kids, there is plenty of room to play in the snow.

Do you provide blankets?

No, we do not provide blankets.  You are welcome to bring blankets for your ride.  We have had some customers bring cold weather sleeping bags that they use as blankets for their ride!

How long should I plan on being at the farm?

We ask for you to arrive 15 minutes prior to your ride, your ride will be 30 minutes and you will have 30 minutes at the bonfire.

Do you have restrooms?

We have portable restrooms for your use during your visit.

What will we be sitting on?

We have comfy cushions that we cover all of our benches with for your enjoyment :)

Can I bring my pet on our ride?

Thank you for asking, but no, we do not allow pets on the farm.  Only ADA qualified service animals are allowed.

Can I bring alcoholic beverages to enjoy by the fire?

Can I bring treats for the horses?
