Horse-Drawn Rides

Enjoy an old-fashioned sleigh or wagon ride with your friends and family at a working New England farm.  Glide down our groomed trails for a 30-minute adventure that takes you through our pine-lined woods and open fields.  Be sure to bring your camera to capture this outing that is sure to please all.  At the end of your ride, you will disembark by a bonfire to enjoy any snack or beverage you wish to bring.  We would recommended bringing sticks to roast something tasty over the fire!

Runners or Wheels?

The ride will happen REGARDLESS OF SNOW.  If trail conditions are not suitable for sled runners we will use an appropriate wheeled vehicle.

Determining the size sleigh or wagon your group requires

We base all of our seating on the average adult.  The numbers listed in our pricing are the maximum number of adults each sleigh will hold.  We consider children 2 yrs and under to be "lap children" and would not take up a seat on the sleigh.

What you need to bring...

A blanket and any snack or beverage you want to enjoy while you are here.  Be sure to bring sticks if you bring marshmallows.  If you wish to enjoy a beverage while on the ride, please be sure they have a lid.

Weather Policy

If we determine the weather to be unsuitable for sleigh riding, a staff member will call the phone number and email the address given at the time the reservation was made by 10 am the day of your reservation.  Please do not call the farm to check on your reservation.  If you have not received an email or phone call, then the event will go off as planned.

The safety of our guests, staff and animals are our top priority, and we do our best to make an informed decision regarding cancelling rides as soon as possible.  Other factors to consider are situations that may affect operations at the farm caused by weather.

If Coppal House Farm must cancel an event you will have the following options:

1.  RESCHEDULE : Providing there is availability and it is not the last day of the season.

2.  FARM CREDIT  : If rescheduling is not possible, you can opt to receive farm credit in the form of a gift card that will be mailed to you.

3. REFUND: If rescheduling is not possible, you can opt to receive a refund.

Cancellation Policy

By making a reservation with Coppal House Farm, you are making a reservation for a horse-drawn ride.  Whether that is with a sleigh or a wagon will be determined by the weather and snow conditions.

Rescheduling is only an option if Coppal House Farm contacts you due to weather.  If we do not have ideal snow conditions to be able to offer a sleigh rather than a wagon for your ride, you may opt to receive farm credit for the full amount of your reservation.  Refunds will not be an option.

Please understand we do our very best to provide you the services you have requested.  We work with people, animals and the environment.  On occasion circumstances (especially relating to weather) may arise and are simply out of our control.  By making a reservation, you are opting to participate in an outdoor event and will need to plan accordingly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I going to be riding in a sleigh or a wagon?

Sleighs require a base of 6 inches of packed snow.  We are constantly evaluating our trail conditions.   If there is any way we can get you in a sleigh, that is always our first option.  If conditions are not right for a sleigh, we will substitute a wagon.  Refunds and rescheduling are not options due to lack of snow.

Can I reschedule or get refund if there is not enough snow for a sleigh?

No, we do not offer to reschedule your ride or give refunds if there is not enough snow for a sleigh.  By making a reservation with Coppal House Farm, you are making a reservation for a horse-drawn ride.

Do I have to pay when I make the reservation?

All rides must be paid in full at the time the reservation is taken.  Payment is taken over the phone and a confirmation email will be sent.

Should I tip my driver?

Sleigh Rides are considered a service, however, tips are always appreciated but never expected.

What time does my ride start?

When making a sleigh ride reservation please remember that the time you book is the time the ride leaves.  If you have booked a 1:00 pm ride, that is when the ride departs the farm.  Always arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time to check in.  For private bookings, if you arrive after your scheduled start time, you will be given a ride equal to the time left on your reservation and no discount will be given.  For public bookings, if you arrive after your scheduled start time, you will not be able to participate unless there is room on one of the following time slots.

Can I request a specific sleigh, horse, or driver?

Unfortunately, contrary to what Farmer John might have told you, we are not able to accommodate specific requests.

What should I wear?

This is an outdoor activity, so please check the weather and dress appropriately.  Blankets, hats, scarves, and mittens are always encouraged.  Make sure to bring snow pants for the kids, there is plenty of room to play in the snow.

Do you provide blankets?

No, we do not provide blankets.  You are welcome to bring blankets for your ride.  We have had some customers bring cold weather sleeping bags that they use as blankets for their ride!

How long should I plan on being at the farm?

We ask for you to arrive 15 minutes prior to your ride, your ride will be 30 minutes and you will have 30 minutes at the bonfire.

Do you have restrooms?

We have portable restrooms for your use during your visit.

What will we be sitting on?

We have comfy cushions that we cover all of our benches with for your enjoyment :)

Can I bring my pet on our ride?

Thank you for asking, but no, we do not allow pets on the farm.  Only ADA qualified service animals are allowed.

Can I bring alcoholic beverages to enjoy by the fire?

Yes!

Can I bring treats for the horses?

Yes, you are welcome to bring treats for the horses.  Our staff will save them and put them in their feed tubs when they finish working for the day.  We do not hand feed our horses.
